Hailey's First Lost Tooth

Hailey lost her first tooth last night. It has been a little wiggly since Thanksgiving, but she refused to believe it could actually come out. I saw it wiggle and knew it had to get out before it fell out in her sleep. However, when I told her this, she screamed and cried because she just knew it was going to hurt. I tried to reason with her until Shem just grabbed and yanked. She howled one final time and then smiled and said, "oooh, cool".

Now I don't know how familiar you are with little children as they lose their teeth, but come about first grade, their yearbooks look like they're filled with jack-o-lanterns because not one person in there has a full set. So then you have the most ridiculous and not to mention not so cute kids with some big, little, and missing teeth in the lot. Pair that with kids who can't make their lunch hit their mouths and those who like to roll on their heads before school, and it is not a pretty sight. Well.....

Then Hailey decides she wants to put the envelope under Mom and Dads pillow (much easier right), but I tell her no and ask her why. Let us veer off subject to a moment and flashback to the time when I was about 5 and terrified of the Easter Bunny. I mean, let's face it, a giant rodent standing next to your bed while you sleep....FREAKY! Even I knew that.

Ok, so I want to know why Hailey wants the tiny thing under my pillow. She says, "I don't want her to mess with any of my stuff." Nice. What child cares about a gift bearing legend playing with her toys in the middle of the night?? Mine. (Good luck Santa)

Anyway, I (speaking not at all in the least biased) have to say that Hailey is even cuter with a missing tooth. She is so proud and even carried it with her to school in the envelope. (she wrote and asked the tooth fairy to please spare the tooth so she could share it). The TF happily obliged.

Day 4 and a Survey

Still snowing. Hailey is sick and throwing up in a bucket and everyone else is fine. Our heater had to receive another housecall tonight because after being repaired twice, it was sounding like it was going to explode every time it lit. We'll see how long this repair lasts. However, the big news is I need help from anyone who reads this. I need you to post a comment which tells the color of my eyes. There is some debate from my Mom in law. We disagree on what color my eyes are, even though I look at me everyday and she is oh...well, a little senile. (Don't worry, she'll forget she read that very soon.) Alright people log in and tell me what color you think they are. I realize this is quite bold to think anyone remembers or cares, but humor me

Day Two

Church is cancelled today. Can you believe it. We got another 3 inches overnight. It is so white outside that it looks like the air is just frozen and hanging ... waiting for it to warm up so it can end it's midair ballet. I don't think I've lived anywhere where they have cancelled church before, so this is a fun first for me. Don't get me wrong, we will probably still read together and watch a church movie or two, but there is already talk of a party at the Ure's. Calls have gone out and come in for a fun lunch of sorts with some games to follow. What is protocol for cancelled church days. Does this mean I can't make a whirlwind trip to Park Meadows Mall? If only Katherine Olson were here *sigh* She'd know what to do.

Snow Dayz

We woke to a beautiful dusting of snow this morning. Since Shem is on vacation I decided to spare everyone the early morning wake up and waited until 10 before I flipped my lid. After waking Shem, he says, "it's snowing." I said, "no, it snowed." After that, he walks to the window and raises our blinds...the most beautiful HUGE snowflakes are falling and have continued off and on all day. My children were so anxious to get outside and play.

To our surprise, our biggest trooper was Hailey. She was throwing snowballs, sticking her bare hands in the snow and running like she was on a beach in July. She was even gutsy enough to start throwing snow at Dad. Instead of laughing and making little snowballs and throwing them in her direction, Shem starts making huge, although lightly packed snowballs directly at her.

Then they all got shovels out of the garage and started throwing snow with them. Shem was caught off guard and received a face full of snow compliments of...yup, his daughter, Hailey. Again, no mercy, as he continued to dump shovels full of snow on her head which only made her laugh harder. What a goof! Landon was not into getting plowed by Dad and yelled whenever dad came near. Abby was, of course, standing off to the side, hands in pockets. It is a perfect, beautiful day in Colorado and my kids are loving spending time with Dad.

Landon's Birthday

Landon is now 9 years old. Can you believe it?! I don't even understand how this little tiny baby grew so fast! He is such a blessing and I am so proud of him. I teased him all day that we were all just going to get him underwear, socks and toothpaste. I even went so far as to tell my mother that those things were all he wanted while he screamed it wasn't true (we were on the phone...my mother and I that is). She got him a really cool remote control car that is supposed to be able to go over anything (not quite true for the weeds in our backyard). She walked in, however, with a little bag with great wrapping paper in it. You could see his heart break as he pulled out ....UNDERWEAR and SOCKS!! He held his smile beautifully and said, "thanks grandma, those are really cool." It was almost painful to watch him hold that smile though (that first picture is of him realizing those are really unders). I could read what he was really thinking. He made it through with such class and finished unwrapping his other presents and grandma went back out to her car and came back with another wrapped gift. His mouth fell open and relief was written all over his face. I said, "Landon, were you scared that was it." He says coolly, "No."
He really wanted a green cake. Green cake, green frosting. My mother really wanted a strawberry sheet cake since she was driving all the way from her house about 2 1/2 hours away. What comes next...compromise. White sheet cake with green dye. Sheet cake frosting dyed green and covered with kiwi instead of strawberries. It was really good!
Uncle Dave of course came through again and had Landon on pins and needles waiting for the ever important birthday letter and let's not forget the little $ that comes with it. Thanks Dave for driving him mad with anticipation. It started about a week before with Landon constantly asking if he could check the mail. I just kinda thought he was developing a little OCD (which if you're going to develop OCD, checking the mail is better than say..trying to bite your own shoulder or washing your little toe every time the wind blows east or something), but it made sense when I got the mail first one day and he says, "ANYTHING FOR ME?!!!" I was confused because he was so intense and then remembered....David.
Landon, we love you so much. We are so happy that you were born and blessed our family in so many ways. You are awesome!

First picture Hailey has vampire teeth in.
Second is Shem and I at the murder mystery dinner. Shem's mustache fell off.
Third are our cohorts at the dinner
Fourth the pumpkin snowmen I found everywhere
Fifth are Hailey and Abby at one of Hailey's after field trip park trips.
Read on to see what these pictures are all about......

November 1, 2007

We have been busy. It started with Christian's baptism (Nathan and Brittney's son) and we were able to spend some time with them. We had a little lunch with their family and some of their friends and then went over to yet another corn maze/pumpkin patch. Since we had already been through a maze, we spent the time in the patch looking for what Abby called, "the perfect one". We only found out later that our adventures in finding that right one took longer than it did for the masses to find their way out of the maze and leave us there. It was funny loading about six pumpkins and about 15 little gourds into our car for the drive home. My kids have been playing with them all ever since. Thank goodness they got carved eventually and out on the porch. We had various snowmen made out of pumpkins all over our house.

Hailey has had a field trip a week. She loves feeling big. It just makes me sick. One of the field trips was an hour away on a bus with their book buddies who happen to be fifth graders. Scared mom half to death, but boy was she a happy girl. Letting go is hard.

Abby is hilarious. We were talking at the dinner table about names for the new baby. Right in the middle of our discussion which was going well, Abby says, "Well, Daddy's name is cheeseburger." Then she shrugs and looks at him with that one dimpled smile. Cute little weirdo.

Landon received a note home after PT conference referring him to the gifted and talented program. "He is a great student with the potential for more" is the consensus of the teachers who recommended him. His conference was great because his grades are outstanding. She says, " he is liked by everyone, and he loves it, he just needs to bridle his social ability a little, but never lose it." There are more developments with this one, but I'll tell ya later....

Shem and I attended a murder mystery dinner at a friends house with 13 other couples. It was hilarious. You had to stay in character and Shem was a Spanish bellboy. He talked with the most hilarious accent and had everyone rolling. I was a clown and just happened to find a hoop clown outfit to cover my ever bulging belly.

This week I was elected to serve on Hailey's school board. The day after the good news, I decided it would be fun to pass out at her school to show them what a dedicated and strong person I would be. Yup, standing in the kindergarten line and it was lights out for me. The funny thing was I couldn't hear for about a minute afterward. I didn't hit the ground....(thanks people), and was sat in the office with a cold towel on my neck (thanks Loretta) for fifteen minutes until a nice church member followed me home. I go in to the Dr. today to see what the heck that was about.

Shem is now doing Pampered Chef and LOVING it. Boy has he found his little niche. His first party sold so much and I gotta say, the ladies love a man cooking for them. I think it helps his profits. Sound a little like a pimp, huh? Work it baby!

Halloween - all three of my children --spider man. Two red spidermen, (the girls) and one black (Landon). Hailey was the only non princess in her class. Last night, however, they found some of their old costumes and were changing up until we went out. We were out for about two hours and it was Hailey fighting to stay out longer. That's my girl. Abby tends to go to about ten houses and want to ride in the car and enjoy her spoils. Landon even tired out before Hailey.

Now to prepare for Landon's Bday next week (Nine years old, can you believe it!!?).

Baby Update

That's right, the baby formerly known as Ure shall now be called Baby Girl Ure (How easy has Prince made that). Alright, the naming game is now open...although, I think I already have it..I just need to convince Shem. Wish me luck.
The revelation that came just this morning brought tears to Landon's eyes (and not in a good way). The girls and Shem were smiling as I kept asking, "Really, are you sure?" "How sure". "For real?"
Am I shocked???? Yes! I could have sworn it would be a boy, but we are making room for another wonderful little girl.

Conference week

Sunday after conference we had a little get together with about 5 other couples. Nice dinner and conversation and a ton of hilarious stories. We had so much fun that we decided for family night we would do it again and go out to the corn maze. So 3 of the 5 couples met and drove out to the corn maze so we could spend the evening lost and cold wandering around in some farmers corn field. It was so much fun. Surprisingly, Shem and the other boys decided it would be a lot of fun to start pulling the corn off the stalks and chucking them at each other as some sort of war. Then came the little individual pieces of corn being thrown up in the air so that the rest of the time we were lost in the maze, we were rained upon by little kernels of corn. The kids loved it! AHH, small town entertainment..and I would have it no other way.

The following Saturday, my Mom came to stay with the children so that Shem and I could attend a session at the Denver Temple. What a day. We served as the witness couple which was a lot of fun, and had a great day being together. A day in the temple with my sweet husband....I have been smiling ever since. After we left, we had a nice meal at Cheesecake and had a nice drive home. I can't wait to do it again....

On a little side note, do you know how much fun it is just to order for yourself?? To order without saying chicken strips or mac and cheese?? Try it..Wow!

My Bilingual Daughter

Tonight at dinner, (and by dinner, I mean cereal) my daughter says, "Mom, I can speak English.....Por favor." Yup, she's on her way.

I also want you to know what a proper wife I have turned out to be. I spent the day making my own applesauce. Look at me! Ok, I know this is easy and everyone has done it, but to me....Everest. Well, maybe not, but I have never done anything remotely close to making my own whatever to store....I feel so accomplished.

Kindergarten Crazy Hat Day

Yesterday when I went to pick up Hailey from school, I noticed as all the children ran out to play, the little girls were in pairs of two holding hands and skipping over to the swing sets and slides. I couldn't find Hailey amongst them. As I broadened my search, I found her with the only three boys in her class. They headed straight for the sandpit. When she was finished there, she got up and ran over to the jungle gym...all three boys followed. This continued as the four of them ran from toy to toy and finally ended with some nice waves as they parted. The one boy who idolizes her most is the class bully. I walk her in every day and stand with her because I have watched this kid walk in and punch the other boys. I watched a little closer today as he walked in, made the appropriate nasty faces at the others and walked straight to Hailey and quietly said, "Hi". She responded by giving a half smile and ignoring him.

Today at pick up I was delighted to see her come out with a little girl, holding hands and skipping to the jungle gym. It was at this point I noticed the boys looking for their leader. They found and followed again. I am just not sure how to feel about all this...

My Celebrity Look alikes

Adrienne had this on her website and it looked hilarious. By the way Adrienne, I have always thought you looked like Serena Williams. Her and P. Diddy. I was so nervous to do this, but after a Dr. visit and a scale increase (small as it may be at the moment) the first of many ups in the scale, my ego needed a serious boost. Any celebrity would be good outside of , I don't know, Little Richard (We have the same hair you know) How cool is what came up. I don't personally see a resemblance, but honey, someone or something does and that's all that counts!

Our solution

Problem solved. With the addition of a DVD player and 4 captain chairs. I like these much better so that kids won't be climbing over seats. Well, as for our savings, they come out to about $20 a month for a better car with more seating capacity and better insurance, not exactly the hundreds I had in mind, but it'll do. FYI, insuring this car will cost us less than insuring our tiny little Kia!!! What are they thinking??!! Don't know, don't care!

September 23, 2007

Super Saturday was this weekend, and I was in charge of teaching bow making to the non-interested members of the ward. We also made vinyl plaques, and 72hr kits. At the end we had a nice lunch together and then it was off to the.....car dealership!
Here is our new car.....not! We went down to the dealership because I saw an ad for a Lincoln Navigator for 14k. Since the Kia will make a great trade-in, I thought we could lower our payments (which are already low) and get a better car. Besides, the Kia will be obsolete in 6 months with not enough seating. Well, the Lincoln was gone when we got there, and we settled for the 03 Chevy Tahoe with 3rd row seating. We were excited to get home and head off for the "Men who Can Cook" Stake cook off. As we were preparing for that, we decided to flip the third row and set off for the stake since we were late and Shem prepared 2 instead of his 5 dishes planned. When we were trying to flip up the third row, we found it mysteriously ....gone..not there,....never had it been there. I call the dealership in a tizzy and they tell us how sorry they were and not to worry, "bring it in Monday and we'll get you into a new one with the promised third row, don't worry." Since then, I've been sick. Forgive me for not trusting with my whole heart the honesty of a car dealership. I'll let you know tomorrow morning.
When we walked into the stake, there was a collective sigh that emerged from the congregation upon seeing Shem. They know he can cook, and when they saw he didn't have all his dishes, started to high-five each other saying, '"maybe we have a chance!" Shem was heartbroken. The first award was announced 5 minutes after we arrived and was of course....Shem for his artichoke won tons. A groan came from all around us and they promised to find and bind Shem later. He won a pair of tickets to the movies. Cool, huh. He also signed up for pampered chef and is excited to get all the latest and greatest utensils and tools, so let us know when you want some great stuff. My hubby, the Chef!
On a completely different note, after church today, Abby was sitting at the table then stands up with one finger in the air and with absolute gusto says, "I am the stick,....THE STICK OF LIFE!" Not sure what this means, but I'm guessing it's good?

September 18, 2007

What a week! This whole week was bogged with meetings and committees and activities...etc.... This weekend was even booked. Saturday started with a primary activity at the park at around 11am. From there we headed to a surprise baby shower for one of the sweetest and funniest girls I know at her husbands' dental office. It was hilarious to see her walk in and be just a little shocked. The greatest was when I heard her husband run up to her and whisper,"don't be mad ok?" Yeah, I might be a little mad because just the day before she called and invited Shem and I to a game night at her home later on that evening with about 7 other couples. You would think he'd give her a warning to wait a week or so. Needless to say, she was so gracious about the shower and even more later when 14 people showed up at her house with all the needed snack food and fun. It was such a fun night.

Sunday morning we all drove down (another surprise) to my brothers old home to help him try to put it back together. He has been renting it out while he moved to a new one, and the renters just trashed it. He has been really overwhelmed with trying to get it back together, all the while losing money on it, that we decided it was time for the troops to show up. Sunday is his only day off (Shem's too), and he said later he didn't think he could ever ask for help especially when he knows we don't miss church. I ask You! My mom, sister, brother-in-law and our family showed up, tools in hands, ready to help. I can't be sure if we really helped all that much, but I know that anything Shem does, GETS DONE! So at least there is that. We returned home late that evening exhausted and then off to school Monday morning. It does feel good knowing that my brother is feeling a little less burdened. We have all been praying for things to get better for him and before we showed up that morning, a woman just walked in while he was working to ask if his place was availabe to rent. Tell me that isn't an answered prayer. Somebody is always listening, all you have to do is ask.

September 6, 2007

Just an update on how the pregnancy is going.
Take a look, this picture was taken of me this morning, this afternoon, and later this evening. Oh, and midmorning too.

Just waking up in the morning makes me a little angry, not to mention all the stupid , yes I said stupid, people I get to be around during one full day. Holy crap, does the junk never stop??

On a good note, I have been referred to a high risk ob clinic which I called today to see what it was all about. They then informed me that it was 1, 2 and 3rd year residents who look out for you and then call in a Dr. when they need them...? Thankfully I talked to a woman who wasn't afraid to tell the truth. I asked her, "wow, you must really trust these residents." She said, "Well, most of them." Thank goodness for a little honesty for a change. Don't know if I'll do it though. Does it seem a little odd to anyone but me that they track down the high riskers and send them to newbies?? Maybe they figure they know all the latest????

September 2, 2007

This week was a little odd. I have been sleeping on my neck wrong all week which leaves me looking like the weird girl with the neck brace on Sixteen Candles. I have had two massages from a friend of ours, and every time she fixes it a little, the next morning it is out again. Ridiculous.
School is very much underway and we spend so much time between activities, school, church, and game nights, that life is pretty fun.
Here lately I keep running across some little tiny troll that seems to be on the carpet while I'm trying to vacuum, on the furniture when I'm trying to dust, and everywhere I need to walk. I finally ask Abby, "Abby, what the heck is that?" She says lovingly, "Nothing, that's just my hairy guy." Well, hairy guy is her little troll that she has to carry everywhere and it is UGLY! If you can see, it is behind her on the piano, and the big part that looks like the head is actually it's cheeks. The little tiny pin on top has two eyes painted on it and then some random yellow hair. I think she got it from a quarter machine while she was with dad. Right after church, she ran upstairs, took out her hair, threw on dad's T-shirt and grabbed hairy guy to accompany her for the rest of the day. I can only hope to find a prettier troll to hope to replace hairy guy....I guess I should capitalize his name...Hairy Guy.

August 21, 2007

Well, she's in! Abby started pre-school today with a girl who is in my ward. She has a current teaching license, has been teaching for 7 years and is completely anal about running the greatest pre-school. You know what that means for me? SCORE! It's wonderful! She has her upstairs landing completely done as if it were an actual schoolroom, she has laminated name cards for the kids so they can begin recognition and all that great stuff and a million other little things that just mean she's going to be great.

Abby was slightly hesitant (which is more than I can say about weekly sunbeam time) and within a minute was happy to say goodbye and start her day.

Here's a little something weird. Tamara (her teacher) tells me upon pickup what a perfectionist little Abby is. ????? She says she is the only one who chose to write (or attempt) her name in class while the others just said they didn't know, and wouldn't move on to another activity until her first one was perfect.

I will continue to be on the lookout for these traits here at home.

August 17, 2007

Two of my children have started school with the third starting next Tuesday. Can you believe it?! Hailey started on Thursday at a Charter school and couldn't be more thrilled. The only problem we are having at the moment is that she gets mad at me every morning because I tell her it's not time for school yet. Shem came home yesterday so that we could take her to her first day together. For the record, she kept yelling, "Bye, Mom, Dad's here!" Her only concern was that Daddy take her to and from school. He is all she wanted. Maybe some people would be upset by this, but let explain a little something. The quicker my children fall in love with Daddy (which never takes long), the easier my life becomes as shouts from the bathroom emerge, "No, I want Daddy to wipe me" to ,"I had a bad dream Daddy." If you're smart, you should start teaching,"dada" from birth. You can rest assured that in the wee hours as the call comes for "DADDY", you can roll over and say lovingly, "they want you."

Landon started school this morning at PWE. His teacher is new to our school and she seems like a wonderful lady. He was so excited, and he even admitted, "just a little nervous.' I think it may be more than just a little as I had the hardest time getting him to go to sleep last night. Both children said as I was leaving, "I'm gonna have fun." What a great way to leave your children knowing they are ready to have a great day. It's been hard to be without them, and will be even harder next week as I will actually have about two hours every Tuesday and Thursday where they will all be in classes. I won't be lonely I'm sure because I volunteer in all of their classes, but it will still seem so strange.

I am officially 8 weeks along today. All is still going well, so wish us luck.

Girls Camp

Wow, what an experience. We all met at the local grocery store parking lot in order to start our trek up into the mountains and to what I understand to be a pretty nice camp site. When we arrive, I notice that there are tents already set up for us which consist of heavy-duty canvas stretched over a slightly raised wooden base. "Wooden Base!!", I think, "Things can crawl through!!" After unloading and announcing tent mates, we all settle in for the stake welcome and lunch after which a five mile hike will take place. Things go well and it is time for dinner which we are late for because we are waiting for Shem to bring all of our unit equipment up, stoves, lanterns, etc.., since we didn't have enough room in the other vehicles. Shem is late and everyone is starving. He finally arrives, dinner is scarfed, and it is time for the ward skits. I have to say here, that ours is the best because the girls made it funny with a nice spiritual message. I can hear the laughter all the way up to our campsite. It is quite a sound to hear over 150 girls laughing in the middle of nowhere. After our skits we are supposed to have a faith walk, but it begins to rain...no pour...just like that. Girls are running to their tents, screaming, some are crying because there is so much lightning and thunder that you can feel it shake the ground. It is 9pm and no sign of it letting up. About 11pm we decide to grab what we can and run to the hall on the grounds. After a slippery ride there, we unload to find about 75 girls in the hall already, most are wet and wearing sheets that have been cut for their heads. Shem has brought up the biggest umbrella you have ever seen and so is making sure each load of girls is covered when they come inside. He, however is soaked. About 12:30 we go back to the tents in order to avoid the mayhem inside the hall and Shem again is making sure everyone has light and heat in their tents. The rain doesn't stop until the sun comes up.

The next day the stake lets us know that rock slides have occured on the road and that the rains are supposed to start again after which more rock slides may block our path home. We are instructed to get our things and leave before lunch if possible.

It is with a heavy heart that I tell the girls and.......oh, who am I kidding. I load up faster than you can blink and wait for Shem to lead us home. That was one long night and even though it was hard to leave after planning for three months, it was such a relief to get out of a flooded tent.

On a different note, we also did some parade watching during the week, and baby is still fine. My first Dr. Appt. is Thursday, and I will keep you posted.

July 26, 2007 Thursday

Well, I guess it's okay to post this since I went ahead and called both moms. Tuesday night after coming home from a baby shower, I took a pregnancy test that was positive. Everyone who knows me knows that I have a little bit of a hard time maintaining early pregnancies, so I am already on progesterone and have had my first round of blood work done. I will need to go in every few days for more blood work, but as of now, all is well.

We are very excited and scared and most of all very ..very happy. Shem can't hardly stand it. He is smiling all day everyday.

I was kind of hoping I would break a leg or something so that maybe Girl's camp would not happen for me, but alas, pregnancy doesn't count. I am not restricted from anything as of yet except for some random things that any normal pregnant woman wouldn't do anyway.

We decided last time not to tell anyone until three months just in case the worst happened, but it happened, and everyone found out anyway, so there it is. Just wanted to share this wonderful event with you all, so keep us in your prayers.

I leave for girl's camp next Wednesday. Tonight and Sunday are our last days of planning. I am slightly overwhelmed with the very idea of being in the woods with the entire stake, but most of all, being in charge of 17 teenage girls myself...I think I'll just pass out midol on the way and hope for the best. No, really, I am sure it will fun as these girls are hysterical to be around.

July 22, 2007

Since last Wednesday lots has happened. The whole family got stranded at the church Thursday night when we had yet another "100 year storm" ( I think renaming those may be a good idea). The water came down so quickly that the foyer started flooding and the lightning grew so bright that it looked like daytime at 8:00 at night. We stayed until we thought we may be able to make it home and then were followed by four teenagers who ended up having to sleep at our house because the roads to their home were washed out.

I traveled to my mothers house again for a baptism Friday evening for a man who had been away from the church for almost forty years and had just moved from our ward in Pueblo West to my home ward in Monte Vista. We had a great time and came home Saturday.

For those of you who don't know. A weight loss challenge has ensued in Southern California. There are a mere 5 involved in this challenge (since they have seen fit to ban the rest of us) and they have a nice prize for the first to lose 20lbs. Since I have been excluded from said race, I am opening a betting pool so that those of us not in the race may still benefit without the strain. I am opening betting with $20.00. If you would like to know on whom I am betting, and get in on this you may call or email with your wager and a name. I have also decided it will be in our best interest to not only be able to bet on each person, but to also be able to place wagers on the amount of time it will take until the weight loss challenge is forgotten by each of the 5 participants.

Best of luck to you all! Have a good week.

July 18, 2007

Wow, First time blogger. Here it is Lindsey.
All last week the kids and I went to my mom's house. We spent every day outside cleaning the barn and garage, and every night during the kids baths, we had to scrape dirt from the tub. They LOVED being outside all day and playing with all the animals and dirt. They were even lucky enough to drive a front end loader by themselves! Crazy farmers, right! Apparently all you need in order to drive one in CO is a working leg or two. That's right, no age limit on farm equipment.
Every night after being sooo tired, I kept hearing a noise- like a cat barking. SO weird! It kept me up for quite awhile, and the dogs barking didn't help. Finally I get up and see a very large fox trying to pry his way into the rabbit cage and sadly, 2 bunnies were already missing. This went on for four nights before I contacted a friend about a trap. That night I lay in bed dreaming of a good nights' sleep only to wake and find three cats in the trap and the noise of that fox getting closer. The day I left, I was tired from working all day and chasing random wild animals all night that I couldn't wait to get home to a good nights sleep only to see what looked like a fox on the highway...bitter sweet I'd say.
When we came back home, we all loaded up again and drove to Boulder for Dad's day off. My mom went with us and we had the funnest day going everywhere in Boulder, and it seemed like everywher along the way.
I also came home to a new dog. A boxer who is already a year old, housebroken, and very well trained. His master was just sent to Iraq and he needed a home. Shem, of course, couldn't get him home fast enough. I can't say I have any...I mean many complaints...just the very messy slobbering. Shem gets mad that I wipe his face before I let him in the house...like my children. We all love him and what a great watchdog.
