Kid Updates

I am so lucky. Ireland's favorite new thing to do is just sit. The lucky part is that she wants to sit on me ....every morning for about 45 minutes to an hour. Now granted I don't get a lot accomplished during this time, but it is definitely my favorite part of the day. She sits on my lap and we read books the whole time. Well, that's not exactly true either...we read one book over and over. What book is it? Goodnight Moon? I Love You Forever? Neither. She loves my Pottery Barn Living Rooms hardback book with the glossy pages. She flips them back and forth all the while rubbing her fingers along the page so the squeak can be heard for miles. She loves it. I think it's the squeaky pages mixed with the length of the book that makes it her favorite.
She also learned to drink from a straw this week. I just put a Capri Sun up to her lips and away she went. I remember being thrilled when my other kids learned because it took them awhile, but this one was born wanting fountain drinks I think. Maybe it was all the coca-cola I drank while I was pregnant and fighting morning sickness. Who knows? She is so big. Walking everywhere. She has even learned how to stabilize after an obstacle appears and she doesn't feel like going around it. She plows into it head-on and adjust for each bump in the road. Wow. I feel so blessed to have this little angel in my life. She is always mixing her sounds and so many times a day it sounds like she says, "good." I think so too.

Landon is doing well in basketball. His coach told me today, "He is a natural athlete."
Yeah, I know. Just like his Dad
Today they played a monster of a team. They ALL looked like they were pushing 17 or 18 years old in height and build. It was so sad, but kind of amazing to see this little team realize what was happening in the first 10 minutes and adjust. Overhead passes were traded for bounce passes and Landon was all over the court. His favorite thing is to fake passes and those crazy giants fell for it every time. One time the entire crowd laughed when the biggest player of the other team had the ball and simply carried it with his arm extended over the head of the smallest member of our team with a little fake lift for added effect. Here's the kicker. ..we won. Our smallest member is a little hot shot and makes 3 pointers with nothing but net, but they all pass it to Landon to get it down the court. It's great.

As for the update on the four P's.. productive. Yeah, I know...too easy. Hailey even guessed that and I said, "nah."

Both Hailey and Abby got awards at the last awards assembly. You'll never guess in what...PE Superstars. Abby couldn't get up there fast enough and "high fived" the gym teacher with such gusto, it made me quit questioning his reasoning. How funny. Landon was heart-broken because he has gotten those awards since he started in Kindergarten. I tried to tell him it was just a Ure tradition that must be passed down and that he was going to have to work twice as hard because everyone knows how great he is.

Your kids are just such over achievers. I wonder where they get it :)
